The R8 architecture employs a licence-per-machine model: A server licensed to run an R8 application is identified by its hardware ID (HWID), a unique 'fingerprint' of the machine’s profile based on its serial number and configurations of key hardware components.
You obtain this unique ID by running the HWID generator tool locally on the machine that requires a licence. After you send the generated HWIDs for all the machines requiring licences to the SoftCo email address, you will quickly receive an encrypted licence key that specifies which machines can run specific R8 components.
Note that this single licence key is administered using the R8 Manager tool, which also provides a table listing machines, their HWIDs, and the applications they are allowed to run.
Windows prerequisites - Windows Server 2003 SP2 or Windows Server 2008 SP2, Windows XP or Windows Vista. Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 is required.
